High-Quality Instructional Material (HQIM)

OESCA is an Ohio Department of Education project partner for the High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) initiative, which is part of Ohio Materials Matter.

ESC-Specific Professional Learning on High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM)

There are several professional learning opportunities specifically created for Educational Service Centers (ESCs).

 

CURRENT TRAINING SCHEDULE:

Ohio Materials Matter: High-Quality Instructional Material Webinars for ESCs
For: All ESC staff who want to learn about HQIM and how to support districts with HQIM 
EdReports will facilitate a series of ESC-focused HQIM webinars that provide ESC staff with information and resources they can use to support districts with the adoption of instructional materials.  

 

Ohio Materials Matter: K-8 Math Implementation Cohort 1 & Cohort 2 ESC Collaborative
For: ESCs who have already committed to being part of Cohort 1 or Cohort 2
Instruction Partners will work with ESCs in Cohorts 1 and 2 to effectively implement HQIM in K-8 mathematics. Professional learning includes quarterly meetings and a year of support for the district from its ESC and Instruction Partners (including instructional rounds, action planning, and professional learning).

  • January 18, 2023
  • April 26, 2023

Cohort 2:

  • February 23, 2023
  • May 25, 2023

 

 

Ohio Materials Matter: HQIM Communities of Practice
For: HQIM Specialists and Cohort 1 and Cohort 2 ESC Leads

Participants will all attend the first and last sessions, then may select a three-session pathway where they will have an opportunity to collaborate on the creation of customized HQIM tools to support districts with understanding the importance of HQIM, managing adoption timelines, and engaging with vendors. These tools with be shared with ESCs throughout the state to promote the use of HQIM.

Ohio Materials Matter: HQIM Specialists’ Implementation Series 
For: HQIM Specialists 

Virtual sessions for HQIM Specialists to build skills implementing HQIM, mirroring the Ohio Materials Matter: HQIM Implementation project with Instruction Partners. Participants will participate in EITHER the Tuesday or the Thursday group. 

Thursdays:

  • January 4, 18 & 25, 2024
  • February 1 & 8, 2024

Tuesdays:

  • January 9, 16, 23 & 30, 2024
  • February 6, 2024

 

Ohio Materials Matter: HQIM Sustainability Series
For: All ESC staff

Virtual series for ESC consultants to learn strategies and tools to sustain post-grant HQIM efforts.

Ohio Materials Matter: Adoption 101 (ESC Specific)
For: ESCs interested in supporting, or who are currently supporting, districts in adopting new curriculum materials.

This monthly series of how-to web-based conversations focuses on topics above and beyond what is offwered in webinars and trainings and will focus on the most common questions ESCs have about the adoption work.
